Flying through Labadee, Haiti

As I mentioned in one of my previous posts I spent some time working on-board cruise ships so, I decided to share some of my favourite places with you, starting with... Labadee, Haiti!

Unfortunately the only way to visit the beautiful island of Labadee is via cruise as the island is privately owned by Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.

Labadee is a port located on the Northern coast of Haiti and is owned by Royal Caribbean Cruise LTD until 2050.

Both the food and the drinks available on the island are brought ashore from the cruise ship with food being served in a BBQ buffet style. There is a few bars around the island as well as the ship's crew providing waiter service on the beach.

Now to the fun part.. One of the most famous alcoholic drinks available on the island is the 'Labadoozie' - A rum based fruit drink which is ABSOLUTELY delicious and here is how you can make one yourself!

1/2 oz Orange Juice Concentrate

1/2 oz Pineapple Juice Concentrate

1/2 oz Papaya Juice Concentrate

1/2 oz Coconut Cream

3/4 oz Dark Rum

3/4 oz Coconut Rum

1/4 oz Grenadine

Crushed ice

Food and drink aside, Labadee also has a small Artisan market in which you can buy typical Caribbean souvenirs, arts and crafts. They also offer hair braiding.

SECRET ALERT!! SECRET ALERT!!

Yes, It's true Labadee has a SECRET and of course, we all love secrets so I am here to share it with you!

Labadee has a private beach for crew members ONLY.

Crew members travel to the beach in a little wooden boat (as seen in the photo) which they can only board by showing their crew pass. Luckily for you I have some photos to show of what we call 'Belly Beach'.

If lazy beach days aren't your thing then Labadee has some awesome activities to offer too. From jet skis, kayaks, water slides and roller coasters to my absolute favourite - The Dragons Breath Flight Line.

The Dragons Breath Flight Line is a zip line which flies you from one end of the island to the other. It is a little pricey but I definitely recommend it! You can get more information or book in advance by visiting the 'Shore Explorations' team on-board the ship.
