Welcome to Italy! or to be more exact.. The Leaning Tower of Pisa.
The construction of the leaning tower began in 1173 and was actually intended to be perfectly straight.
It is still unknown to this day who began the construction of the tower with its structure being made of white marble and standing at around 60 metres tall.
The leaning tower is one of four monuments which make up the 'Square of Miracles' or 'Piazza dei Miracoli'.
The other monuments include - the Pisa Baptistry, the Campanile and the Camposanto Monumentale.
A ticket to enter the Leaning Tower will cost you around €18 (EURO) and offers some awesome views, or, if you also choose to visit the other monuments in the square you will receive a discount. If you do pay to enter the tower please bare in mind you have to climb 251 steps with a lot of the surfaces being uneven. The visits last around 35 minutes. You can book your tickets online or find out more information by clicking here.
However, even without a ticket you can still take a 'typical tourist' photo shot by the tower or enjoy lazing on the grass around the Cathedral.
Finishing up on The Leaning Tower with a fun fact - Did you know the Leaning Tower has tilted an extra millimetre every year since construction and is currently 4.47 metres off where it should be!?
I personally think one day is enough to explore Pisa, the main tourist areas can be explored by walking in less than an hour and the nearby streets offer a selection of designer stores, street performers and excellent food markets..
Speaking of food, this is something I highly recommend spending some time to enjoy - Down every street you will find a pizza stall, gelato stand or a beautiful little restaurant and seriously, what could be better than authentic Italian food!?
